1 Since it is true that Christ has suffered for us in the flesh, furnish yourselves with the same understanding also, for those who have suffered in the flesh are restrained from sin, * *
2 no longer spending their lives for human fleshly desires for forbidden things but following God's will for the remaining time living in the body.
3 For in the time past during our lives we may have been satisfied to have done the will of the majority when we pursued unrestrained desires for forbidden things, drunkenness, wild parties, drinking parties, and unlawful idolatry.
4 Because of this, they think it's strange that you don't run with them into the same overflowing wickedness, so they speak evil of you:
5 They shall give an account to Him Who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
6 For into this cause the gospel was also preached to those who are dead that they might be judged in their bodies, as it is with all humans, but live toward God in the spirit.
7 But the end of all things is drawing near. Therefore enter into prayer with a sound mind and a calm spirit.
8 And above all things have fervent love among yourselves: for love shall cover the multitude of sins.
9 Be hospitable to one another without grudging.
10 As everyone has received the charisma gift, even so minister/serve the many-faceted divine power for righteousness, holiness, and redemption of God to each other as managers of His property.
11 If anyone speaks, speak as the very mouth of God; if anyone minister/serve, do it by the power furnished and directed by God so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion into the ages of the ages. Amen.
12 Beloved, don't think that the refining fire, which is to tempt you, is strange as though some strange thing happened to you.
13 But rejoice since you come Into fellowship with Christ's sufferings; that, when His glory shall be unveiled, you may also rejoice with exceeding joy. *
14 If you are criticized for the name of Christ you are happy, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. They speak evil of God, but you glorify God.
15 But don't suffer as a murderer, a thief, an evildoer, or a person who tries to meddle with or direct other people's lives.
16 Yet [if you suffer] as a Christ-follower, don't be ashamed, but glorify God in this situation.
17 For the time has come that judgment must begin at the house of God, and, if it begins with us first, how will it end up for those who refuse to believe and obey the good news of God?
18 And if it is difficult for the righteous to be saved, where will the ungodly and the sinner appear?
19 For this reason, let those who suffer when they are in the will of God trust Him, the faithful Creator, to direct their minds toward doing what is right.

Young's Literal

1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2 That he no longer should live the rest of [his] time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.
3 For the time past of [our] life may suffice us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when we walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries:
4 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with [them] to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of [you]:
5 Who shall give account to him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.
6 For for this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit.
7 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
8 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
9 Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
10 As every man hath received the gift, [even so] minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 If any man speak, [let him speak] as the oracles of God; if any man minister, [let him do it] as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.
14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy [are ye]; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
15 But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or [as] a thief, or [as] an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men’s matters.
16 Yet if [any man suffer] as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.
17 For the time [is come] that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if [it] first [begin] at us, what shall the end [be] of them that obey not the gospel of God?
18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
19 Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls [to him] in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.

King James Version

1 Christ, then, having suffered for us in the flesh, ye also with the same mind arm yourselves, because he who did suffer in the flesh hath done with sin,
2 no more in the desires of men, but in the will of God, to live the rest of the time in the flesh;
3 for sufficient to us [is] the past time of life the will of the nations to have wrought, having walked in lasciviousnesses, desires, excesses of wines, revellings, drinking-bouts, and unlawful idolatries,
4 in which they think it strange -- your not running with them to the same excess of dissoluteness, speaking evil,
5 who shall give an account to Him who is ready to judge living and dead,
6 for for this also to dead men was good news proclaimed, that they may be judged, indeed, according to men in the flesh, and may live according to God in the spirit.
7 And of all things the end hath come nigh; be sober-minded, then, and watch unto the prayers,
8 and, before all things, to one another having the earnest love, because the love shall cover a multitude of sins;
9 hospitable to one another, without murmuring;
10 each, according as he received a gift, to one another ministering it, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God;
11 if any one doth speak -- 'as oracles of God;' if any one doth minister -- 'as of the ability which God doth supply;' that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom is the glory and the power -- to the ages of the ages. Amen.
12 Beloved, think it not strange at the fiery suffering among you that is coming to try you, as if a strange thing were happening to you,
13 but, according as ye have fellowship with the sufferings of the Christ, rejoice ye, that also in the revelation of his glory ye may rejoice -- exulting;
14 if ye be reproached in the name of Christ -- happy [are ye], because the Spirit of glory and of God upon you doth rest; in regard, indeed, to them, he is evil-spoken of, and in regard to you, he is glorified;
15 for let none of you suffer as a murderer, or thief, or evil-doer, or as an inspector into other men's matters;
16 and if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; and let him glorify God in this respect;
17 because it is the time of the beginning of the judgment from the house of God, and if first from us, what the end of those disobedient to the good news of God?
18 And if the righteous man is scarcely saved, the ungodly and sinner -- where shall he appear?
19 so that also those suffering according to the will of god, as to a stedfast Creator, let them commit their own souls in good doing.
