Relativism

Someone may say, "All things are relative."

This and all similar thoughts are self-refuting and easily dealt with.  Relativism says there can be no absolute doctrine, principle or standard.  Of course, that means that relativism violates its own premise, because relativism is an absolute doctrine, principle, and standard.

Claim: All things are relative.  Answer: So are you saying that I shouldn't believe you?

Claim: There are no absolutes.  Answer: Are you absolutely certain?

Claim: We cannot know the truth absolutely.  Answer:  So are you saying that we can absolutely know that we cannot absolutely know?

What is difficult is that you will find relativist to be very dogmatic.  Even when faced with the fact that they are being irrational, they will tend to persist.  Relativism is a final escape from the real God into insanity.
