In the Old Testament, Strongs gives the meaning: worthless, good for nothing, unprofitable, wicked, ruin, destruction. Others say it is a compound word, no yoke, and some even say that it refers to Satan who through off the yoke of heaven. Satan is the source of every corrupted mind, and everyone who is not following Christ is a slave of Satan, even if they don't know it. Jesus told the religious people that their father is Satan because they do his works. Anything we do, if God has not lead us in it, Satan has. Whatever is not of faith is sin. In the New Testament, Strongs says this is a name for Satan.
