v. 6-11 Rest-Soft Heart |
Hebrews 4:6-11 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his. Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief. This passage has often been taken out of context and interpreted by the rationalizations of the carnal mind. Notice what it actually says: "Let us labor to enter into that rest." That word is written to Christians... to you and to me. It remains that some must enter into that rest while it is called today. That day was the same day at the time that King David was alive. That day is still under way. God's hand is still held out. There is still hope. We can still enter in. God has not yet had a people who have entered into this rest. This is still there. Do not harden your heart. It is easy to harden our hearts with extra-biblical theology and ramblings of the carnal mind, but God asks us not to harden our hearts. God will not close this present day until some do actually enter in and possess their possessions in the realm of the Spirit. These will be those who are transformed (transfigured) by the renewing of their minds. You know in your heart that you were created to live forever. If that same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in you, He shall make your mortal body alive. That is God's promise. We must believe it and take hold of it. God will lead us into it. We will need to put down all of our own ideas and die to self and live to Him. He has a way that He will fulfill this--the way laid out in Scripture. Much of this Scriptural pattern has been forgotten, stepped on, avoided, negated, ignored and disobeyed by the church... that's you and me. We must return to the Scriptural pattern. We must reject the extra-biblical forms and rituals of dead religiosity and be led by the Spirit of God. ![]()
