Genetic Fallacy |
Logical Fallacy of Origins / Genetic Fallacy / Fallacy of VirtueGenetic fallacy occurs when a perceived defect in the origin of a claim or thing is taken to be evidence that discredits the claim or thing itself. It is a logical fallacy because it fails to assess the claim on its merits. Examples of the Logical Fallacy of Origins / Genetic Fallacy / Fallacy of Virtue
This is a commonly used fallacy among people who want to walk in an ungodly way. The fact that everyone who claims the label, Christian, is not following Christ, Himself, is not proof that Christ is not Who He says He is.
This argument against the need for God is irrational in so many ways, but one is the logical fallacy of origins. The awe and wonder of the Universe stirs the emotions because we all hear the Heavens declaring the glory of God. For the divine judgment of God is unveiled from Heaven against all lack of reverence toward God and unrighteousness of innermost mind and life of those who suppress the Truth in the unrighteousness of their innermost mind and life, because that which may be known about God is plainly known among them, for God has made it visible to them. For that which cannot be seen of Him is clearly seen from the creation of the world, being understood by the things that are made, not only His eternal Power but also His Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, when they knew God, they neither glorified Him as God, nor were they thankful, but they became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish innermost minds were darkened. We have this by revelation which is absolute and beyond dispute since it is what God is saying, and there is no higher authority.
