Loaded Question:
"Sweden has been one of the most peaceful countries in the world and it's 85% atheist. Honduras is about 99% Christian... and it's one of the most violent. How do you explain that?" For the answer, go here.
This page points out some of the faulty presuppositions hidden in this question:
False Presupposition #1: Sweden is one of the most peaceful countries in the world. Actually, Sweden has the highest crime rate for rape in Europe. Googling violent crime in Sweden shows that this presupposition is false-Sweden is about average in crime rates among industrial countries. They have a massive police force that is largely funded from arms supplies, often to both sides of a conflict. False Presupposition #2: Honduras is one of the move violent countries in the world. Actually, there is a lot of crime in Honduras but there appears to be no link between the crime rate and belief in God. In reality, it is poverty, gangs, and low apprehension and conviction rates of criminals that contribute to the high crime rate. This fact exposes the hidden logical errors in the accusations that the question was devised to imply. False Presupposition #3: Sweden is 85% Atheist. Actually, almost all Swedes are Lutheran, but only a fifth claim to believe in God. What this shows is that belonging to a "church" does not make a person into a follower of Christ. False Presupposition #4: Honduras is 99% Christian. Actually, almost all are Catholic, but there is a movement toward Protestant-and we were unable to find any figures on how many actually have a relationship with Jesus Christ, which is the real question.
At every turn of the road, this question is actually a deceptive way to convey a number of lies.
