And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Have we fully realized just how narrow that narrow way is? It is so narrow that if God is not asking us to do it and if God is not the Power within us that is doing the work, then it is sin. That means that a prayer can be sin. A religious act can be sin. If it isn't the leading of God, it is sin. If we try to do it in our own strength, it is sin.

There is worldly, Secular, faith and there is the faith of God. In Mark 11:22, Jesus said, "Have faith [in] God." The word, in, is added and some Greek scholars believe that this would be better translated as, "Have the faith of God." Is there a faith of the human and a faith of God?

James 1:17 says Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Genuine faith comes from God. It is free, just as every other gift is free.

There are many places in Scripture where faith is referred to as a Spiritual gift and also as a fruit of the Spirit. If it is of the Spirit, then it is of God. Indeed, the Bible tells us plainly that we cannot generate salvation through our own works. Genuine faith comes by an utterance from God. God speaks. We hear. We either obey or not. There is no gray area. When we obey, we grow in Christ. When we disobey, we fall short of the righteousness of God.

(some caveats about hearing God's Voice)

Some people try to work up faith as an exercise of their natural mind. They will repeat some mantra over and over. They will try to get themselves into an emotional frenzy. All of these types of activities are a lack of faith. These activities will not get the kind of faith that is real. Real faith comes as we yield our will to God's will. We must accept Christ into our lives as the controlling power in our lives. Jesus must rule and reign. Love must rule and reign. Righteousness must rule and reign. Wisdom must rule and reign.

Real faith comes from God. If you want it, you must come close to God. You must yield your will to God and love Him. When you yield your will to God, your will becomes the same as His will. At this point, you are ready to receive His faith. His faith is different from Secular, worldly faith. The faith of God will move mountains.

Proverbs 21:4 An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin. (note that even the work that the wicked person does is sin. Whatever is not of faith is sin.)
