Soul vs. Spirit

There Is A Difference Between The Soul And The Spirit. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. There is a huge difference between the soul and spirit. In our present state, we sometimes become confused between the two. Those who are saved have had their spirits changed and joined to the Holy Spirit. We can experience ever greater grace and power by the Holy Spirit. He can move upon us. He can flow through us. He can guide us. He can speak to us and teach us. He can reveal the Word to us. He can totally baptize (whelm or bury) us. He can give us gifts of the Spirit. The soul can be directed to follow the Spirit of God or to follow the flesh. That's what Romans 6, 7, and 8 are all about. The mind and will are associated with the soul. The mind is the seat of the will. God has given us a free will. Satan cannot control our will and God will not control our will. God forces Himself on no one. As soon as we are born again by the blood of Jesus, we begin to learn to discern between our own soul and the leading of God. We begin to become familiar with the voice of Jesus. We can choose to direct our mind and will to the Spirit or to the flesh.
