v 2 Ready Mind

1Peter 5:2 Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

This verse refers to elders in the local church, the overseers of the local church. They are to feed the flock of God as a shepherd (pastor) feeds the sheep.  Actually, this involves far more than just feeding.

It must be remembered, however, that every member has a ministry and is a ministry, not just those with the office of elder. Here it states that elders must have a mind that is ready to receive from the Holy Spirit and yield to the Holy Spirit of God. That's what we all need, isn't it? The human mind was never created to be used outside of a submissive relationship with God, but rather to be in submission to the Holy Spirit.

Every ministry needs to take his or her ministry (place of service) willingly, and certainly not for filthy lucre.  We must have the mind of Christ--a mind that is willing to be led by the Holy Spirit.
