| Holding ground |

When the Spirit flows in this way, we are changed. Ground is taken. God equips every Christian for progression from one degree of radient holiness to another. We are born again to grow up. We are born again to walk into holiness from glory to every increasing glory. As we hear and obey in this way, our hearing improves since our sense are exercised by reason of use (Hebrews 5:13 & 14). When we disobey, our consciences are seared and we become less mature (1 Timothy 4:1-2). We plant weeds in our field. If we fail to forgive, we allow roots of bitterness to take germinate. When we contend with God, we build strongholds in our souls (Romans 2:8). Sometimes, we argue with God. We tell Him that He is limited in what He can do. It is the truth that sets us free while lies make us slaves. We need a surge of the Holy Spirit to hold the ground and really have lasting victory. A temporary trickle will not do it. We must strike the enemy repeatedly. While righteousness is available right away, holiness is obtained from glory to glory. Holiness goes from faith to faith until faithfulness, stability, is attained. As soon as we make any progress, our carnal mind tries to take credit because it is deceitful and desperately wicked beyond what we can know. It wants our worship. Many have slipped in this way. We must walk in humility. When we yield to the Spirit, we are changed, but we often slip right back into doing our own works. We go back and forth between following God and following our own mind. (James 3:10-12) Holiness is not stored up righteousness or stored up Holy Spirit (Jeremiah 2:12-14). As Israel could not store the manna from heaven, neither can we store up holiness. Holiness is a clean heart that allows the continual flowing of the anointing oil, the Holy Spirit. It is the constant flow of the anointing and a clean heart. It is maturity. God is concerned with the relationship. If the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in us, the Holy Spirit will also bring life to our mortal bodies (Romans 8:10-11). This relationship, this constant flow of the anointing, is the only thing that can satisfy us. God is our real need. He is our real fulfillment. How foolish when we listen to Satan's lies and think that something else could satisfy! The path of the just is as a shining light that shines more and more until the perfect (fully mature and complete) day. (Proverbs 4:18)
