False Prophecy |
Logical Fallacy of False ProphecyWhenever a logical fallacy is committed, the fallacy has its roots in Agrippa's trilemma. All human thought (without Divine revelation) is based on one of three unhappy possibilities. These three possibilities are infinite regression, circular reasoning, or axiomatic thinking. This is known as Agrippa's trilemma. Some have claimed that only logic and math can be known; however, that is not true. Without Divine revelation, neither logic nor math can be known. Science is limited only to pragmatic thinking because of the weakness of human reasoning, which is known as Agrippa's trilemma. False prophecy, a form of axiomatic thinking, is one of these three unhappy possibilities. The logical fallacy of false prophecy occurs when someone proclaims something to be true, especially some future event. They may claim divine inspiration, but, much more often, they just claim common sense. Examples of the Logical Fallacy of False Prophecy
This prophetic structure is applied to all problems that are found with abiogenesis, big bang, old-Earthism, and molecules-to-man evolutionism.
This declaration is made as an extra-biblical prophecy, which is actually self-refuting, since the person making the claim would need direct revelation to support the claim that actually contradicts Scripture. It is understandable that someone would make this claim with all the false prophets and false teachers who are springing up, but eliminating the truth doesn’t make the lie go away, and telling a lie doesn’t eliminate truth. All the people who say that God has revealed to them the end of the world only to find that that day passes and is just like any other day. The lesson here is not that God doesn’t lead, but if we are going to say that God told us something, we need to be very certain that God did say something. The Bible has example after example of the true prophet functioning right along side the false prophet. Fallacy Abuse
The fact that God speaks in no way means that those who acknowledge God become all-knowing. In fact, those who follow Christ are really only learning to be led and to respond in submission. This tactic has actually been used by an Atheist who seemed to think that it was extremely clever and intelligent when it showed a lack of the ability to logically process thoughts. ![]()
