| v.1-2 Be Transfigured |
|
Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed [literally: transfigured] by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Note that this is in the passive voice: "the renewing of the mind." It is not an instruction for you to renew your mind. How could you possibly do that? The natural mind of man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God. But it is in the passive voice. In the passive voice... that means someone other than our selves is doing the renewing. Who is that? It is the Holy Spirit. We present our bodies as a living sacrifice. We yield ourselves to the Spirit of God. He renews our mind. When He renews our mind, we are changed. We are transformed. We are transfigured.
How can we know anything about anything? That’s the real question |
