Consequences of Sin

Romans 6:23, For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

If we fail to attain to the glory of God, then God must judge us, because God is just. God cannot violate His nature, and God is Holy. God is Holy, so you must be Holy. Sin is failing to attain to the glory of God. The wages of sin is death. The just nature of God demands that you receive the wages you have earned. The Bible says that anything that is not of faith is sin. To understand what this means, you have to understand how faith works and how it works with grace. Most people wrongly think that faith is believing in something in kind of a mindless way and that grace is forgiveness for all the things that they do that are wrong. Those misconceptions keep them from understanding reality.

The Bible says that faith is actually something of substance that comes from God. The Bible says that faith comes when you hear, and hearing can only come when there is a word from God. So, when you do something that God did not tell you to do, that is sin. The Bible says the faith gives us access to grace. Grace is the free gift of God, and the power to do the works of God is grace. In fact, through grace, God is able to do His works through you. You were created for this purpose. You were created to be joined in total submission to God, in your spirit, in your mind, and in your body. To not be joined in total submission to God is sin. We were created to have His glory flowing through us, but we are naturally bound to Satan because of the fall in the Garden of Eden. Jesus paid the price to set us free from this bondage and to make it possible for us to be bound to God in the way that we were created to be joined to God.

Once we are joined to God by being born again, we are free to allow God to do His work in us. Everyone who has the faith of Jesus is born again. Those who are born again do not want to continue in their sins. They look to Christ to set them free from their sins. Those who are born again are free. They no longer have to sin, even though they may sin from time to time. If they do sin, they plant the seeds of those sins in their mind and in their bodies. The seeds planted will grow up and trouble them. If they are obedient, then they plant the seeds of righteousness in their minds and their bodies. The sin seeds that were previously planted in their minds and bodies are stunted in their growth, and new seeds of faith, hope, and love are planted in their place.
