'48 Move Songs |
The following song was one of many "received" in the Spirit back in 1949, "given" in the early beginnings of this present Move of the Spirit. For your spiritual enrichment.... submitted by Br. Terry Miller: GOD IS POURING OUT HIS SPIRIT ---------------------------------------------------- God is pouring out His Spirit, He hears the cry of longing hearts; To the ground once dry and barren, Resurrection life imparts. chorus: God is pouring out His Spirit, Showers are falling everywhere; But for mighty sweeping torrents, This would be our humble prayer. Now we know the water's troubled, Our God has surely heard our cry; Clouds of rain are now appearing, Filling all the earth and sky. Saints of God, now let us seek Him, Just pray till God shall have His way; Yield your spirit, soul and body, Hearken to His call today. - "Received" in '49 by Phyllis C. Spiers ANOTHER MOMENT IN TIME: CHURCH HISTORY. In these days, many things are being written about the early years of this Move of the Spirit, some of it fairly accurate and some of it not. I'm not a musician by any means, but music and singing was an important part of the early years, and still is. From the beginning of this outpouring many new songs were "given", which happens even today. Some are meant for only one particular meeting, but others are for time and probably some for eternity. Among those "received" in the early years some were choruses and others were ballads or hymns and even "singing the Scriptures", especially the Psalms. Some we still sing, a few are even part of our song book, others have found their way into the larger Christian community, but many are long forgotten, and a few are being rediscovered once again. In the latter classification, and among those "received" at North Battleford in 1948-49 was....
HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE GARDEN? =========================== Have you been in the garden with Jesus? Is your heart crushed with sorrow and pain? Are you willing to go one step farther, His fullness of blessing to gain? Chorus: Will you go one step farther with Jesus? Will you yield your all to Him? It may cost you your friends, your life, your all; Will you go through the garden with Him? Have you yielded your all to Jesus? Is your all on the altar now laid? Are you willing to say, "All the way Lord; I'll go through the garden today"? Have you come to the place on life's pathway When all things have been dimmed by your tears? Are you willing to look up to Jesus? He'll drive away all your fears. ................................................................................................................. A chorus also "received" at North Battleford in 1948-49 was...
O FOR A MIGHTY OUTPOURING! ========================= O for a mighty outpouring! Send it on every heart; O for the Holy Ghost stirring, In my hungry heart let it start. Purge away all that would hinder, Cause me to seek Thee afresh; Open the floodgates of heaven, Come, and Thy people now bless. .................................................................................................................. (Music is available in printed form for a.) HAVE YOU BEEN TO THE GARDEN?, b.) O FOR A MIGHTY OUTPOURING, and c.) GOD IS POURING OUT HIS SPIRIT (posted earlier). All were "received" at that time by Sis. Phyllis Spiers, who will be remembered by those who were there in the beginnings. She also received HE'S THE LORD OF GLORY, which has gone around the world, and is sung in many Christian circles even today:) HE'S THE LORD OF GLORY ===================== He's the Lord of Glory, He is the Great I AM, The Alpha and Omega, The Beginning and the End. His name is Wonderful, The Prince of Peace is He, The Everlasting Father, Throughout Eternity.
ANOTHER MOMENT IN TIME: CHURCH HISTORY submitted by Br. Terry Miller, a servant of the Church, which is His Body. Recently I posted the words of five songs "given" in the early days of the Outpouring of 1948-49, which many haven't heard before. Only the older Brethren seem to remember them. Several have emailed asking if printed music exists? Yes, music (not tapes) in printed form does exist, and I'll gladly mail photocopies on request to any of our singers/musicians who might like one. If you're interested in the words only, those have already been posted on the Global List. Music is available (words and music) for:
O FOR A MIGHTY OUTPOURING GOD IS POURING OUT HIS SPIRIT THIS IS THE PROMISE HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE GARDEN RAIN, RAIN, RAIN I've also posted the words for HE'S THE LORD OF GLORY, but I haven't yet located music for that one, but I hear it exists (so I'll keep researching). I have to chuckle that a guy who can't sing a note or read one either is gathering music!!! As dear Br. Whitter used to say, "God help us all." (smile) Blessings to all. Br. Terry Miller A servant of the Church, which is His Body. ![]()
