I always try to avoid National Public Radio, with their godless programming. I was, however, recently put into a situation where I was forced to sit and listen to NPR. On the radio program, a man was being interviewed. He was a musician and researcher who had researched the South American primal rhythms. He was very pleased to inform the audience how these rhythms are used. He explained that the music is played to summon the demons. The demons come and inhabit the dancers. They possess them. The music gives them power to do so, as the dancers yield themselves to the rhythmic patterns of the music. The interviewer seemed to think that this was just great. They then played some of the rhythms. They were not unlike many of the rhythms we can hear in today's rock and jazz. This was a few years ago. The person being interviewed informed the audience that his intent was to introduce these new rhythms in the United States.
