| Lies About Love |
|
The worldly have redefined love to mean just the opposite of love. Much of what the worldly call, "love," is actually the lack of love. The Bible plainly teaches that adultery is the lack of love. Romans 13:9 For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. Notice that it also says, "... if there be any other commandment..." That means that other perversions of marriage and relationships between persons also constitute a lack of love. Much of what the worldly call, "love," is actually the lack of love. Also, covetousness is identified, in as a lack of love. Liberalism defines covetousness as love or compassion. Liberalism defines envy as compassion. Socialism is mainly a system of programs based on covetousness and declared to be compassionate. In reality, this form of compassion based on covetousness is the absence of love. Some have said that the Church is supposed to use a powerful central government to tax unbelievers so that the Church can use the money to help the poor. This is simply another form of covetousness. The Church members are to tithe and give offerings, which are to be used for such work along with missions and government of the Church. And they are also to personally help others as they are moved and enabled by the Holy Spirit. The government, on the other hand, does a very poor job at trying to be a mock-church for the liberal religion. Love and the commandments of God are the same. If you break the commandment, you are acting without love. If you act without love, you are breaking the commandment. 1Jo 2:3-10 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. Brethren, I write no new commandment to you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning Again, a new commandment I write to you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. He that loveth his brother abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes. There is a choice involved in the love of God. We must choose between loving God and loving the world and the things of the world. The two are mutually exclusive. 1Jo 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever. 1Jo 3:4-11 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. The body of flesh has not seen Him or known Him. With the mind I will serve the new man, the born again man, who cannot sin. 1Jo 3:14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. This is not a call for world socialism or that the Church ought to tax the unbelievers and redistribute the wealth. It is a call for you, as a member of the Body of Christ, to reach into your own pocket and minister to the needs of those who have need.
