Chicken Little\'s Fear

Logical Fallacy of Chicken Little's Fear and Pessimism

The Logical Fallacy of Chicken Little's Fear and Pessimism occurs when a vision of hope is given, yet fear and bitterness persist.

Examples of the Logical Fallacy of Chicken Little's Fear and Pessimism

Sandra: "I'm afraid that if I go out and get a job, it might not work out."

Roxanne: "You are a servant of Jesus, aren't you?"

Sandra: "Yes."

Roxanne: "Don't you know that Jesus will go with you in your work if you acknowledge Him in all your ways? He is almighty. You may not be able to do it, but if you depend on Him, He will give you wisdom and strength."

Sandra: "I can't interview for jobs. I know that I'll fall on my face."

At any moment, the enemy of our souls is speaking fear into our innermost minds. Listen to the Holy Spirit instead. The Holy Spirit will tell you the truth. He will give you a vision of hope, whether He speaks through a fellow-Christian, through the Bible, or through some other means.

Sandra: "I'm so afraid. The world is spiraling out of control. It seems like everything is falling apart. The economy, the terrorists, and so many other bad things are happening. Then there is global warming, the hole in the ozone layer, and all of that."

Roxanne: "It sounds like you are in fear. Have you ever heard that the Earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof?"

Sandra: "I can't think about that. How can I cope with this disaster?"

Fear is an enemy. Perfect love casts out fear.
