Appeal to Materialism |
Logical Fallacy of Proof by Appeal to MaterialismProof by appeal to materialism is one of the many smokescreens that are used to cover the fact that the reasoning is based on one of the three fallacies of Agrippa's trilemma. Whenever a logical fallacy is committed, the fallacy has its roots in Agrippa's trilemma. All human thought (without Divine revelation) is based on one of three unhappy possibilities. These three possibilities are infinite regress, circular reasoning, or axiomatic thinking. This problem is known as Agrippa's trilemma. Some have claimed that only logic and math can be known without Divine revelation; however, that is not true. There is no reason to trust either logic or math without Divine revelation. Science is also limited to the pragmatic because of the weakness on human reasoning, which is known as Agrippa's trilemma. The Logical Fallacy of Proof by Appeal to Materialism occurs when materialism, the unfounded assumption that there is no spiritual realm, is used as a base assumption or axiom and treated as if it were a known fact. This is a type of hysteron proteron. Appeal to Materialism is not always a fallacy of limiting presupposition. Sometimes, people consciously decide to accept materialism as an axiom. They openly admit that this is merely an axiom, an arbitrary assumption. It is still a fallacy, except then it is a fallacy of flawed evidence. No evidence has any value if it is based on an assumption. For the most part, when materialism is used as part of the proof, it is presupposed. It becomes part of the paradigm, the fake-reality, the worldview. This is not consciously thought of as an assumption at this point. It is thought to be part of reality. This is the deadly deception of it. It is never even a conscious thought because it is presumed, so it is never challenged or noted. Materialism is an example of Agrippa's Trilemma in action. Materialism acts as a filter to filter out all Divine revelation, and Divine revelation, every person is totally lost and in a mental fog. In fact, rationalism can make persons in total mental fog feel as if they are very wise and knowing. In reality, they know nothing. They cannot know anything. They have cut off the only source of knowledge, wisdom, understanding, love, and peace. Examples of the Logical Fallacy of Proof by Appeal to Materialism
What a declaration! To make this statement, the person making it is claiming omniscience. Since so many have testified to their own experiences in the spiritual realm, this is a very dogmatic statement based on rationalization. There are other fallacies here. There is certainly a refusal to look at the evidence. There is circular reasoning in that the person is assuming materialism to prove materialism. "If you can give me a very specific type of material evidence that the spiritual realm exists, then I will believe in the spiritual realm. However, I will not look into the spiritual realm to find the evidence." There is material evidence of the spiritual realm, However, this person has rationalized that evidence away. The First Law of Thermodynamics is that no energy or matter creates itself. The existence of the Universe, of the Earth, of human beings, is material evidence of the Creator God. The nature of Creation speaks to us about the kindness and wisdom of the Creator God and about the fallen nature of the Creation. Creation speaks because God speaks to anyone who will listen, and one of the many ways that He speaks is through the Creation. The Second Law of Thermodynamics is often rationalized away, but if everything always existed, the Second Law indicates that there would be no planets or stars but only uniformly distributed heat very close to absolute zero. ![]()
