Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Note that Paul is born again, yet he is pressing toward the mark. Is he hoping to die soon? No! A Christian needs to ask himself or herself, "Am I pressing toward the mark? What is that mark? Am I pressing as God ordained that I should press, or am I simply trying to do it my own way, which would be iniquity." So many preachers preach a gospel that brings the saints to a state of lukewarm existence. They think that they have arrived when they are born again. You can probably turn on the radio right now and listen to a preacher saying that. Paul, however, didn't consider himself to have apprehended. There is more. Philippians 3:13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth to those things which are before, Paul says that he is pressing toward the resurrection of the dead. How do you do that? God has a method. Philippians 3:11-12 If by any means I might attain to the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect [complete]: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. God had a reason for grasping a hold of us through Christ Jesus. We take hold of God's purpose by yielding to the Spirit of God. He leads us into all the right paths and builds us into completion. He gives us everything we need to get it done, and then He does the work if we let Him. Philippians 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect [mature], be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this to you. Let's all keep that in mind. If we are off the mark and convinced that we are right, we simply need to go to God and he will reveal the truth to us. Other Scriptures indicate that the proud receive nothing. The humble, God can correct.
