Proverbs

The revelation that God has given to the apostles, the testimony of the Holy Spirit through Scripture itself, the testimony of the Holy Spirit in the heart of every follower of Christ, rational (sane) thought, scientific method, and any other measure other than the creative rationalizations (insane stories) of the skeptics, all confirm the historical, material, and spiritual accuracy of every part of Scripture from the very beginning of Genesis to the very end of Revelation.

Proverbs was written to pass on the wisdom of God.

1. the purpose of the proverbs--listen to the instruction of your father and mother rather than the enticing words of evil people who sound so good--wisdom, Jesus Christ is our wisdom, 1 Cor. 1:30, warns--a mind that listens in submission to Jesus' voice--the bad things that happen by not listening

2. listen to the utterance of God; then you will discern righteousness, justice, equity, and everything that is good and He will be a shield guarding you from evil people

3. Wisdom's benefits and rewards--Trust your mind to the Lord and don't depend on your own understanding; keep God in your knowledge in everything, let Him guide your thoughts, and He will direct your whole life--be kind

4. total concentration to get wisdom--avoid the influence of the wicked/fools--guard your mind; the tongue; the eyes; what you do

5. stay far from sexual sin--the sanctity and blessing of sex in marriage (also a type of the mind submitted to Christ)--death is in sexual sin (also a type of the natural human mind)

6. don't make yourself liable for anyone else's debt--be diligent and hard-working--proud sin: some people think sin is funny and cool

7. the charm, temptation, and allure of sexual sin may fool a person with no understanding, but that person's life is at stake (also a type of the natural human mind)

8. Wisdom calls to you and shows you the benefits of following Him--Wisdom dwelt with God before creation

9. Wisdom's house and invitation leading to life fro all who come--folly's house and invitation leading to death for all who come
