Aren’t there false apostles and false prophets?
It’s interesting to see how the lower nature tries to get around this apostle issue.
I heard one theologian say, “Well that’s all gone. It went away with the apostolic age.” This creative bit of rationalization is anti-bible. What is the apostolic age?
Another one says, “That no longer applies.” Many are seeking to change the Bible in many ways for many reasons.
There is actually a group that is selling it. They hold a seminar. For a little over $100, anyone who comes up with the fee can be an apostle. They even get a certificate.
I met a man who said, “I’m set as a pastor under apostolic authority.” I was interested, since I’m set as an elder, pasturing a flock, under apostolic authority.” I asked him about these who were in authority over him. He said that they read about apostles in the Bible and saw that there has to be apostles in the church. They looked around and didn’t see any apostles, so they decided to be apostles. They ran, but God didn’t send them.
One pastor that I know was looking for what he called a covering. God had shown him about apostles and the biblical order. He knew, by the Holy Spirit and the Word that he needed to be in submission to the biblical order. As time went by, he became rebellious against this thing that God had shown him. He rejected it and replaced the revelation with something out of his own mind. He decided that the apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers are all supposed to be “under the pastor.”
I saw one woman who went through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation trying to blur the differences between man and woman. She then declared: Everyone needs the “five-fold ministry, of which I am one.”
We have people who have never been sent by God running around from church to church. They are laying hands on people without having authority and imparting a spirit of rebellion. They are teaching false and misleading doctrines. They are jockeying for control.
Just because there is a false, that doesn’t make the real any less real.
