Fear

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. *

What do people fear?

Islam
That God will not redeem them
Global warming
Violent Atheism
Liberalism
Socialism
Homosexuals

While there are reasons, in the natural, to fear these things, fear leads to anger and anger to bitterness. Love casts out fear. We do not minister by fear. For many of the things mentioned above, the follower of Christ is set to be the one who has the responsibility of being the ambassador of Christ to these people so that the Holy Spirit can deliver them. If they will not receive the ambassador, the ambassador must not be discouraged or frustrated. They are simply rejecting Christ so that God can rightly judge them in the day of judgment.

Ephesians 4:26 Be angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:

Here is an example of an email we received that includes a person who has been put in fear by Satan who is telling this person that God has limitations when the reality is that God will deliver anyone who sincerely asks to be delivered. He always must do so despite our weaknesses. Those who don't acknowledge that their present state is far from what God has for them are too proud for God to work with them. They must come to understand humility before they will be able to come into the presence of God. On the other hand, the fear that is reflected in this question is unwarranted.

Question:

I AM AFRAID I HAVE A BLACKENED HEART FROM MY SINS AND WILL NEVER BE PURIFIED. I AM AFRAID BECAUSE I STILL WANT TO SMOKE AND DRINK AND STILL HARBOUR ENMITY AGAINST MY MOTHER. I AM AFRAID BECAUSE IT IS AS IF I DON'T CARE AT TIMES AND I HAVE ABUSED MYSELF AND FORSAKEN THE NEEDY BUT WHEN I AM IN NEED EXPECT OTHERS TO SAVE ME BAIL ME OUT.

Answer:

Don't be afraid.   God is with you and will lead you out of your situation.

Just pray to Jesus Christ, the One Who died for your sins, the One Who created all things.   He will meet with you where you are.   When You open your heart to Him, He draws close to you.   His power is greater than the power of the devil.   When you receive Him, your spirit will be joined to His Holy Spirit.   That will change your mind to some degree.   Don't be dismayed.   God intends to save you, spirit, mind, and body--starting with your spirit.

From the day you are born again by believing in Jesus, the Holy Spirit works from within, from your spirit, to change your mind by small degrees from glory to glory.   He begins to speak to you in your conscience, that point in your mind where you have contact with Him.   Satan will also be there to try to pull you in the wrong direction but just don't listen to him.   He was always a liar.   He will continue to lie.   Listen to the truth that comes from Jesus.   Let Jesus be your wisdom.   Let Jesus be your righteousness.   Let Jesus be your strength to do what it right, to change your heart to be a forgiving and tender heart.

When you listen to Jesus, faith comes into your heart to believe.   When faith comes, it opens up the door to God's free gift of righteousness.   God's free gift of righteousness does every work if you will just yield to it.   It is only God Who can forgive, so you have to allow Him to forgive those who have wronged you.   Just believe Him and He will do the work.

All of this is not instant, but moment by moment you are transfigured into His image as you believe Him that He has made you into a new creature.   Once you are born again, you have an evil nature called the flesh but you ARE the heavenly nature called the spiritual man.   The spiritual man is actually Christ in you the hope of glory.

Each time you yield to Christ instead of Satan, Christ becomes stronger in your heart.   You are planting good seed and you begin to reap what you sow.   What you reap is the fact that you become more godly and less ungodly with every decision.   At first, the change is so slow that you hardly notice any change.   But over time, you will find that your whole nature and whole manner of life changes.

Keep walking with Him.   Never give up.   You can do it by His power.   Just look to Him.
