Stories about a very old earth and universe have been the most effective tool that Satan has used to turn people from faith to disbelief. These stories, when coupled with the stories about evolution, become even more effective for Satan and his followers. In fact, we might ask who even cares how old the earth is and how old the universe is? Guesses about these ages really make no difference at all. However, stories about an old Earth and an old Universe are the weapons that the enemies of Christ have found most effective for turning Christians from Christ. This is the only reason that this page is here. All old-Earth stories and old-Universe stories are fabrications based on arbitrary, false, assumptions and rationalizations. They are not valid. The People who believe in billions of years claim that light from the most distant galaxies could not reach earth in only 6,000 years. They assume that God could not have, by either natural or supernatural means, made a lot of time pass in most of the Universe while very little time passed on Earth. They assume that the speed of life has always been the same. They assume that the one-way speed of light is the same as the two-way speed of light (We can only scientifically test the two-way speed). They assume that they will never find out more about the Universe, providing a scientific explanation while leaving this Scripture intact: “For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.” Exodus 20:11--part of the 10 Commandments. “However, the light-travel-time argument cannot be used to reject the Bible in favor of the big bang and billions of years. This is because the big bang model also has a light-travel–time problem.” ~ Jason Lisle, Ph.D. And, though the old-Univerers and big-bangers have stories and unsubstantiated ideas that they hope may solve their problem someday, big-bang/old-Universe does have a problem much more severe than the problem of the unknown facts surrounding the Creation of everything by God. And we know that God did it like He says that He did it because God cannot lie. It comes down to this question: Who do you believe? Do you believe God or the ungodly?

Frequently, even the ‘facts’ reported in geological books are not facts, but interpretations. Often geological books are filled with misrepresentations and interpretations--made-up stories that are based on arbitrary assumptions, irrational thinking, and outright lies--and these are stated as if they were facts. Students are being lied to regularly. They embrace a fabricated story that is based on arbitrary assumptions and call these stories and assumptions, "facts." That is outright deception, and many people are being fooled into belief in these lies.

It must be noted that those who have a real experience with the power of the Holy Spirit to solve problems, reveal truth, bring peace, heal the sick, do miracles, and do righteousness through His people--those people are not swayed by these stories that conflict with the Bible. They may be temporarily confused by the lies (lies put forward as "science"), but if they are in contact with the Real Jesus Christ, there is nothing that can shake them off of that foundation.

Here are the two most important facts:

1. Science: All methods of calculating the age of the Earth and of the Universe (and arguing for evolution, for that matter, since the two are linked) are based on circular reasoning. If you change the assumptions, you change the age. And there are serious problems with all the old Earth stories when seriously looked at from a scientific standpoint--even if you accept the various assumptions (such as the assumption that there was no worldwide flood). Yet, in schools and every form of media, people are told repeatedly that there is overwhelming scientific evidence for an old Earth and an old Universe. This is a lie. There is no compelling evidence, only stories. We are not dogmatically claiming to know that the Earth is 6,000 years old. We know that God created the Heavens and the Earth in six days and we know the number of generations between Adam and Christ. That's about it. Even though a plain reading of Scripture seems to indicate a young Earth; even though there is zero observed evidence and only circular reasoning and speculations that support old Earth stories, we can't even deny the possibility that God could have done something that Scripture doesn't hint at and that has left no scientific evidence. It is possible. It just is not worth the time to think about it.
2. Revelation: God speaks to us through Scripture. All logic that does not have revelation as its basis must be based on assumptions, things that have no proof and no way to be proved or disproved. In other words, without revelation it is impossible to know anything about anything. Without revelation, you cannot even prove that you exist or that your senses are actually working correctly. Given these facts, it's a wonder that anyone would lose his or her faith over these stories. Yet, most Christians appear to be unaware of the two facts above.

Time is relative. This is a testable scientific fact. The creation story, and the rest of the Bible, is told using the frame of reference of the time that is passing on the Earth. Dr. Humphreys points out how God could have easily allowed billions of years to pass for the distant stars while virtually no time at all passed in our solar system in that part of day four when God created the stars. They illustrate our need to keep our minds open, especially when we don't have complete information. We only know in part. The Scripture is accurate, and the human mind sometimes thinks that it has understood a concept when it has not. Keep in mind that just because we know that God could have done it this way, that does not prove that He actually did it this way. In the same way, if evolutionists were ever to be able to prove that molecules to man evolution could have happened (which they are far from doing though they claim this is proven), that would not mean that molecules to man evolution ever took place. So, it is interesting that the laws of physics which God created would allow time to stop in one part of the Universe while billions of years passed in another part of the Universe. At the same time, God could have brought the distant starlight to Earth some other way that He has not yet revealed to us.

While old Earth stories are a vision out of the mind of man without any support from true science, Christianity is based on Jesus Christ, the Living Christ, Who reveals Himself to the Christian on an ongoing basis. Believer's have the supernatural trust that is a gift from God. By this trust, we see Jesus and hear His Voice. It is Jesus Himself who reveals to us that the Bible is His Word, His Utterance. And it is Jesus Himself Who speaks to us through His Word. Jesus speaks to us through many different means: Scripture, intuition, bringing Scripture to our remembrance, apostles, prophets, etc. When God speaks to us, faith comes and with faith comes a vision of hope. This vision shows us who we are in Christ in an ever-more-clear understanding. When God speaks, He instructs us what to think, what to say, and what to do. Then, He does the work through us by His grace, His free gift of righteousness. This righteousness of God in us is the moving of the Holy Spirit that transfigures us from glory to glory to be like Jesus, killing our fleshly nature and causing Christ to be more fully formed in us. And this death to self, to the old adamic sin nature, and building up of Christ is the very thing that redeems us, sets us free from slavery to the fleshly nature, to Satan, to the pressures of the world, and to death.

So what does God reveal to us through Scripture?

Exodus 20:11 "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day."

Genesis 1:1-31 In the beginning God created the heaven and the Earth. and the Earth [was] without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God hovered over the face of the waters.
3 God said, "Let there be light." and there was light, and God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness, and God called the light Day, and the darkness He called Night, [and that was the] evening and the morning [of the] first day, God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." and God made the expanse, and divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse correctly, and God called the expanse, Heaven, [and that was the] evening and the morning [of the] second day. (Note: when calculated, this genealogy comes out to about 6,000 years.)

Mark 10:68 But at the beginning of creation God made them male and female. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. So they are no longer two, but one.

Now, imagine a teenager being told that an old Earth is scientific fact and cannot be questioned. Then the teachers point out that an old Earth (and evolution, which is also claimed to be fact) are in conflict with the Scriptures so the Bible is just a book put together by men with no relevance. If the kids don't know the two facts at the start of this page, they will fall for this lie. And not only kids fall for it. Christian leaders also fall. Most of the older Christian leaders who fall had ways of rationalizing the old Earth stories as being compatible with Scripture. There are several ways to do this, but all of them cause more questions than godly edifying, and none of them are necessary since science cannot determine the age of the Universe or the age of the Earth. Only revelation or circular reasoning can be used to tell these ages.

It should be noted that, if we were to make the speculation that there were a gap of time between "In the beginning God created the heaven and the Earth." and "and the Earth [was] without form, and void" and we were to, in our speculation, also speculate that no death took place during this gap (since the sin of Adam is what brought death into the world), and we were to further speculate that "For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them" refers to a re-creation and not an original creation of the Earth--if we were to speculate all these things, we could reconcile the circular-reasoning of the majority of scientists with the Bible. You might say, "So what? Why would I want to do that? How does such speculation build me up in Christ in any way?"

The fact is that this page would not be here if ungodly people were not using stories about the age of the Earth and stories about evolution to successfully convert over 80% of Christian young people into non-Christians during their years in college. And this page would not be here if research surveys did not show that most of those young people lost their faith years before they entered college because no one ever told them about the two facts:

As you look over the Scriptures above, what does God say to you? If you believe that the earth is billions of years old, can you reconcile that belief with the Scriptures above without intense speculation, adding to Scripture or taking away from Scripture.
