If you allow the Spirit to lead you to Spiritual music, teaching, reading, meditation, and action, then you will find that the soil of your heart becomes increasingly open to God's good seed. The weeds will slowly die out. The fruit of the Spirit will spring up. God will create a clean heart in you.

God gives good counsel. God has given wonderful counsel in the church. He speaks to us through the Bible. He leads us in a still small voice through our conscience. He shows us His nature through His creation.

What happens when a Christian turns to ungodly counsel? Consider the effects of ungodly counsel in the form of the ungodly news, education, friends, advisers, movies, TV, radio, and music. The relationship with God suffers. Iniquities begin to create a separation from God. The Christian can easily be fooled, since spiritual hearing has become so dull. Spiritual eyes can no longer tell the difference between the holy vision and the corrupt imagination. The Christian becomes wise in his or her own eyes.  If a person wants to be a follower of Christ, that person cannot be like a puppet on a string thinking whatever the media tells them to think, saying whatever the media tells them to say, and doing whatever the media tells them to do.

If you listen to ungodly counsel, follow after ungodly celebrities, listen to ungodly music, or try to get help from ungodly sources, then you will find that the soil of your heart will become hard and unable to respond to God's good seed. You will have no response to the Holy Spirit. If you continually step across into sin, you will find that the soil of your heart will become stony and unable to have a depth of spiritual experience. You will at best have an intellectual or emotional response to the Holy Spirit. If you allow the world to push you and pull you into its cares, worries, entertainments, pleasures, and ambitions, then you will find that your heart is full of weeds and God's good seed will be choked by those weeds. You will never find satisfaction or fulfillment.

There is Christian music that is of the wrong spirit. There are really nice movies that have nice messages, but the quiet message is that there is NO GOD in this movie. The Christian opens the door for the news media to twist his or her opinion. Humor on TV begins to force the Christian's mind into the world's mold. Classes finish shaping the mind of the Christian. A really sweet cartoon teaches the children that there is no difference between Kwanzaa and Christmas. The list could go on.

And the carnal is contentious, contends against God. The argument goes: There's nothing wrong with that music, movie, joke, cartoon. Though there may be a lot wrong with what was said and done, that is not really the point. The point is that anything that God did not author is sin. Whatever is not of faith is sin and Jesus is the author and finisher of faith. God is looking for people who will yield to His Spirit so that they only speak His words by His Spirit. They only do His acts by His Spirit. They are those who have come into submission to the King of kings and Lord of lords. We can always "prove" that we are right, but is God convinced? (Proverbs 16:2) In the end, God knows... and you and I know, too. Don't we? The Lord has a plan that says which songs will be sung in the service this week. He has a plan about the way the service will flow. We need to learn how to be directed by the Spirit of God.

It's amazing how well the Secularists are able to manage the expectations of Christians. Christians go to movies that don't have too much vulgarity... only a little bit. And the movie has not nudity, only some sensual scenes. We sit for hours listening to Secularists giving their favorite messages.

What is the worst sin? It is the sin against the greatest commandment. What is the greatest commandment? Thou shalt love the Lord, your God with all your soul, and all your mind, and all your strength. What is the most important Secular message? The most important Secular message is this: "Don't love the Lord, your God with all your soul, and all your mind, and all your strength." God is left out of the characters that are portrayed in movies and books. If God is included, it is to make fun of those who love God. If someone is introduced early as a Christian, particularly a Bible-believing Christian, that person will be a nut, probably dangerous, before the end of the story. There is a tremendous amount of effort being brought to keep any Christian from speaking of his or her experience with Christ. More than any time in history, a Christian needs wisdom to witness. Yet, Christians turn to ungodly witnesses.
