Progressivism

Progressivism has been around for over a century, though the label has gone in and out and in fashion again. "All that progressives ask or desire is permission -- in an era when development, evolution, is a scientific word -- to interpret the Constitution according to the Darwinian principle; all they ask is recognition of the fact that a nation is a living thing and not a machine." Woodrow Wilson

Thus, using the slogan, "Evolution is science!" the progressives sought to apply this principle to every aspect of life. They redefined the role of Government as being the same as the role of the church. What of the church then. Well, now that this role of defining morality and ethics had evolved to a duty of the state, then the church should but out of it because of the "separation of church and state." And as far as taking care of the poor, this has evolved to be the government's job as well. And education has evolved to being the government's job. And, of course, the government must be secular since the secular (Atheist) view is neutral where Christians are biased. And the progressives are the morally superior ones.

Progressivism gains much of its power by creating dependencies. When you give freebies to people over a long period of time, those people eventually become dependent on the freebies. Since they are dependent, they are captive. In a democratic form of government, those people are votes to the progressive.

By taking control of the schools, progressivism has been taught to the children for over a century. Many of those children are Christian and don't realize that the things they have learned are in conflict with Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of their faith. Some of them go into positions of influence in the church and end up inadvertently defiling the church. Since their progressive training has taught them that morals evolve and that documents evolve, they have no reason to believe that the Bible is the word of God and without error. They see it as a document that must give way to progressive thinking. Their morals are "evolving" as the culture decays--and this is right in the church at the highest levels of leadership. These are people who have so strayed from God that they put the visions out of their own mind on the same plane as the revelation that comes from God. This is largely why we see the corruption at all levels of society throughout the world today.

Here is a further problem with this. The progressives have taken the term progressive and misapplied it to themselves. They are not really progressive at all--unless progressing toward hell is progressive. Who then are the true progressive people? Those who are growing from glory to glory into Christ. Those who are hearing the voice of Christ and responding. Those to whom the faith of God comes as a free gift when they hear His voice. Those who have access by the faith of God into the grace of God. Those through whom the grace of God does the works of God. Those who are being changed from glory to glory as God does His works through them. They are the ones who are progressing.
