Scoffers

It is difficult for a scoffer to be honest since the scoffer has been deceived.  The scoffer is in bondage, trapped by Satan.  The scoffer repeats the lies that they themselves have heard and believed.

If the scoffers were to be honest about their claims that there are errors in Scripture, then they would tell us that their real purpose is to give their own minds the same status as Scripture. They really want their own rationalized and spiritualized supposition to have the same validity as Scripture.

In reality, they do not want to surrender themselves to their God. They do not want to submit to God's loving authority. They want independence from God.

They want to say, "My opinion is just as good as anyone else's opinion." The reality is that God could care less about their opinion or anyone else's opinion. God's opinion is the only opinion that matters. The fact is that those who have heard from God and rejected Him that He should not rule over them, will bear the consequences of their choice.

Sometimes, we Christians make the mistake of projecting Christian ethics onto the unsaved.  There is no reason to assume that a non-Christian thinks in the same way that a follower of Christ thinks.  For the unsaved, their concept or view of honesty is entirely different from the Christian/Biblical view of honesty.  There are even people who believe that reality varies from person to person and ethics vary from person to person.  So don't expect scoffers to be honest in the same sense as you, as a Christian think of honesty.  Scoffers are mostly just poor confused people.  Pray for them.
